  i found this memorial invitation quite different than the previous ones.

  i couldn't find a more recent posting about the invite, so i may be going over old ground.. at first i just looked thru it.

  but then on second look, i realized there was more going on than i thought.

  All I could find was this

  

  On the invite, the picture is cut off on the left side where the man in the blue vest is. On the right, it is cut off so that you don't see the mother and daughter walking. It is hard to see, but where the lady in the pink shirt is in the middle, there is a stair case going up.

  And yes, it doesn't say memorial. My bad. I'm so used to it being a memorial that I didn't even see the change. I wonder how many JW's will recognize that too? Will they be chastised if they keep saying memorial?

  There is a tiny tiny picture on the back of the invite, right across from the scan block, of jesus on the stake with the two other evildoers. In the top left corner, there is an arrow like of what you would see if it was a slide show. So they cut and pasted from some other illus.

  The subtle , yet massive change of Matt 5:32 in the "New" New World Translation

  so i noticed this change in the text of the new silver nwt compared to the older nwt at matthew 5:32. old nwt:.

  "however, i say to you that everyone divorcing his wife , except on the grounds of fornication makes her a subject for adultery...etc" .

  Certainly broadens the reason for a divorce. Still subject to the whims of the elders/wt.

  I wondered when I saw the school/auditorium on the front cover, what that was about. My sister thought maybe it would be less intimidating for "worldly" people to attend. It might also mean less trouble parking.

  Or, maybe the school is better looking than the kingdom hall.

  Yes you have to work hard in the split seconds after recognizing that it is possible to pull off a pun. Although most consider it a punishment to hear them. I think they are just jealous.

  I found this memorial invitation quite different than the previous ones. I couldn't find a more recent posting about the invite, so I may be going over old ground.

  At first I just looked thru it. But then on second look, I realized there was more going on than I thought. First page had the usual scene of happy JW's in all genders, age, colors and importance in the congregation. One couple is reaching out to shake the unsuspecting hand of an interested one. It was the building in the background that was different. Obviously not a kingdom hall but a school or auditorium. This was a first I believe. Either Jesus was on the cover or a kingdom hall if I remember right.

  The cover says "You Are Invited" and turning into the flier the second page has the memorial info. Oh Wait! No, not the important memorial info on Jesus and what he did, no it was an invite to the "special" talk on April 14. So Jesus not only lost the first page, but also the second. His advert is on the third page and back cover.

  Nothing says Memorial Season like the special talk! Sorry Jesus, take the back seat!

  i was just enjoying a you tube video clip of george carlin explaining euphemisms.

  one of the ones he commented about is how people try to soften the fact someone is dead by saying, "they passed away.

  " noo...they died!.

  I guess it's easier for people to say "passed away" like they have gone away, instead of died. I say my grandma died.

  Others miss their pets and say they have gone over the "rainbow bridge"

  Yes don't imagine what will happen to you - but do imagine it. They want you to be fearful so that you stick with them and hopefully get God's favor so that maybe, just maybe, you'll make it through.

  Let's Talk Horror Movies

  horror is easily my favourite genre of movie so i just thought i'd start a thread on it.. horror can be done badly and there are plenty of crap horror movies, no doubt about that.

  but horror can also be done very well, too - often on a low budget.. plus, there are quite a lot of subgenres - slasher, supernatural, monster movies, body horror, psychological horror, zombie, vampire, etc.. so, do you like horror?.

  what's your favourite subgenre?.

  When I was a kid, I loved all of the radioactive monsters - dinosaurs, giant ants and octopuses. But those things haunted my dreams. King Kong (the original) was pretty horrifying to me when the sailors were chased and eaten by the dinosaurs.

  The Thing with Kurt Russell - the armatures were so good that they gave me flashbacks in the daytime because my brain couldn't figure out how they were made.

  Psychological horror - Lord of the Flies and The Killing Fields. Both made me feel trapped along with the characters.

  I haven't watched movies in a while. Those were my way of escaping from the horrors of the WT and Armageddon.

  The article I read tonight regarding the two guys that accused Smollett of paying them, was that they felt betrayed.

  What happens to them?

  And it seems like every picture taken of Smollett, shows him with a calculating look on his face. As an actor, you would think he would put on another face.
